Passport Photos - Slight shadow over my eyes

Post by Travelbug » Fri Jan 20, 2012 12:34 pm

I got my passport photos produced yesterday from Snappy Snaps in London.

There is a noticeable shadow across my eyes from where the eye sockets cast a normal shadow.

Is this a problem? Do I need to go back to the shop and get the photos done again? I showed a few people but they reckon it is OK but I'm not convinced. My eyes are very blue but in the photo my eye colour is somewhat disguised because of the shadow.

In hindsight I'm surprised the photo store clerk even let these print.

Maybe I'm overreacting but what would you do? Go back and have them done again or chance it?

i find that photos taken in a photo booth rather than in shops are better as the ones in shops are more likely to have a shadow due to lighting. No one can really tell you whether the photo complies with the guidance without seeing it. If you are unsure then spend another fiver to get more photos rather than risk having your application rejected as invalid.

Thanks Greenie.

I'm just comparing the new photos to my old passport photos and the difference is significant. In the old photo my eyes glow like freaking sapphires and it is super clear, which makes the new photo look all the more sub-par. The clerk used a high end Nikon dSLR so I presumed he knew what he was doing.

I got 8 photos done and they charged me £8.99.
Might go back to the store and try to kick up a stink and see what happens.
