If the ILR approval letter does not say anything, keep old ones as souvenirs.
Wait for the letter to guide you then. Usually you have to send them back. But its not a big deal. last month I got my ILR and once I received the confirmation letter it states to Return the OLD BRP to the address mentioned on the letter.
So once you get the letter and the new BRP, then Send it to the address on the letter.
I send my one last week on recorded delivery to make sure not goes to the wrong hands, even I make it cuts into many pieces.
