PTE home B1 - entry spouse visa

Post by 0M0M » Wed Dec 27, 2023 2:25 pm

Hello, someone I know is looking to enter the Uk from India for the first time on a spouse visa. To meet the English language requirement they have booked the Pearson PTE Home B1. Please can you inform me if this test is fine to do for entry clearance or if they have to do A1?
Thanks in advance

if it's a SELT, it's fine; even more convenient since they can reuse it for extension/ILR/citizenship.

Thank you. This was my thinking too, however on their website it explicitly says for settlement and citizenship which is why doubts were raised.

The website clearly says you can get a higher level test straight away:
https://www.gov.uk/uk-family-visa/knowledge-of-english
You must pass at least level A1 on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) scale for your first visa application. You can choose to take a higher level test.
I assume test is still valid (within 2 years).
