Resident Card renewal

Post by lunallena » Tue Dec 05, 2023 6:19 pm

Dear all,

I have recently applied for British naturalisation, having had my biometric appointment on the 28th of October 2023.

I currently hold settled status, granted as a family member of a EU citizen (I am non-EU). I also have a resident card as proof of my settled status, which I use to enter the country when I travel. Said card is expiring on the 5th of February of 2024.

I am planning to travel to my home country in March 2024 and I doubt my naturalisation application will be processed by then so I logically have to renew my resident card to be able to return to the UK. Do you know if this will interfere in any way with my naturalisation application as my current resident card has been submitted as identity document alongside my passport?

Thank you in advance for the reply.

Applying for a BRC renewal (or even a new passport) won't interfere with your naturalisation application.
They are totally separate processes (and naturalisation isn't an immigration application).
Be aware though BRC application could take some time.
This is just my opinion as a member of this forum and does not constitute immigration advice.
Please do not send me private messages asking for advice.
