Thank you all first off for volunteering & sharing your knowledge & I know some of you are immigration lawyers too offering advice without remuneration. Kudos.
I have what I hope is a quick question.
I have been out of UK for a year & 3 months now continuously - since Dec 2023. [Partly for work reasons on behalf of my UK Employer, then stranded for medical reasons for the past 5 months or so].
As far as my immigration history goes, I am on ILR [Indian Passport] and have been a resident of the UK since 2002 / student days basically and UK has been home since.
Question is:
Considering the New UK Evisa rules [old visas ending 31st Dec 2024 - extended to 31st Mar 2025], can I just board a flight from India to UK and expect to clear immigration, carrying just an ILR Vignette? Or are there any Evisa formalities to do BEFORE I board the flight Feb end 2025? I have already checked and cannot apply ONLINE for an Evisa as 'Out of Country' and my biometrics are required for which my presence in the UK is required. So any paperwork to complete to avoid getting myself checkmated at the borders unnecessarily for lack of a small effort to check rules before boarding the flight?
Many thanks for your help
