Salary Threshold for Skilled Worker Visa Switch (CoS)

Post by movenom » Mon Apr 07, 2025 1:30 pm

Hello everyone,

I am currently in the UK on a Skilled Worker visa and have been in a similar role as a Marketing Administrator (occupation code 4151) for a few years, with a salary of £28,000. I am now switching to a new employer but will be doing the same job in a similar role.

My question is: given that my previous Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) was issued before April 4, 2024, and my salary was £28,000, am I eligible to switch employers using the same visa conditions, or will I need to meet the updated salary threshold for the Skilled Worker visa?

I’ve read that transitional salary provisions might apply for those on a CoS before April 4, 2024, potentially allowing me to meet a £29,000 salary threshold. However, I am unsure if this would apply to my situation since the new salary thresholds for my occupation code (4151) are now £38,700 for an Experienced Worker or £30,960 for a New Entrant.

Has anyone been in a similar situation or can clarify if my previous salary of £28,000 would meet the requirements, and if I need to meet the new thresholds or if I can benefit from the transitional provisions?

Thanks in advance!
