Not true - most consulatncies, including UK based ones use that model - 'bodyshopping' is a model where you supply the 'personnel' for a project rather than doing the entire project. I have worked as a 'body' for a number of investment banks and govt projects via one of the biggest Consultancy ...

Yep theres three stages that you can monitor: 1.When you post it you know it's in the postbox 2. Have about 250 - 500 cups of tea in the 5 - 12 month gap 3. You know that it's been approved or denied when you get the application back. It's quite high tech and I'd be happy to explain where to input ...

The only reason I would go for a passport is to facilitate easy travel in case you have to travel with the baby, if you naturalise him/her and then apply for a british passport the whole process may take a cpl of months but given that your baby has gone without a passport for 5 months, maybe travel ...

Ok, well this is my update on ILR I have been on HSMP for 5 years so booked an appointment at Croydon on 20th Jan. However, bacause I have changed my passport 2 years ago and do not have the old one, my application was not initially accepted and I was advised to apply by post. So... The application ...

Hi.

I received my passports today with ILR stamped - the ILR was granted on 17th Apr.

After 4 months, I got my passports back and my ILR has been delayed by 3 months.

Thanks,

Hi Aanjoo, Thats a strategy you could use, not sure what you would write in the letter though - 'I am complaining because I anticipate my application will not be dealt with in 14 weeks' - also like I said earlier, not sure if 14 weeks is a hard deadline - 90% is what they commit to. I have written ...

Hi, Here's the update from my end - rang homeoffice today to check on the progress, the status is under consideration, and the lady said there is no estimate on the timelines within which it will be dealt with - so nothing more than I can do. Hi Winduser, I think you can complain, but I doubt if a complain will have any bearing (positive or negative) on the outcome, looking at other posts and timelines, I think your passport will arrive anytime between a week and 3 weeks - and the timeframe within which a complaint has to be dealt with ...

Hi Aanjo, Nothing as yet, and also it is really tedious to get through to HO on telephone. And even when you get through they don't tell you anything - either they do not have access to the status of the application or they cannot be bothered. So, I have just resigned myself to waiting and I think ...

Mabsa,

Thanks for the uplifting advise, I guess when you are held hostage (like HO has had us) - just relaxing (and hoping that you don't need your passport back in an emergency) is the only option - we cannot fight back and complaining will not change anything.

Mabsa, Mansawant,

Many thanks for your updates. So looks like the HO is turning the applications around in about 15-17 weeks. So 7 more weeks for me to go, and after that I can start worrying.

The joys of being an immigrant...

Hi,

I am at the 77 day mark - about 11 weeks into the process. Are you thinking of sending them a complaint?

Hope your application is turned around in the next few days.

Many thanks John. I wish HO could provide some interface for applicants to check the status of their applications online :). That would create jobs and help the economy as well.
