Re: Success story: Non-EU spouse got visa for Spain

We only got married in August so there was no problem with our marriage certificate being too old but we're thinking it's probably gonna end up being a problem when it comes to getting her Resident's Card since it 'expires' in November. We'll just have to wait and see!

Confused on visa type for family reunification

I'm a British citizen and my wife is Filipina. She just received a visa so that she can come and join me in Spain and live here with me. She made it clear in her application that she was applying for a visa for residence but the visa she was given is a Type C Schengen Visa. From what I can see this ...

Success story: Non-EU spouse got visa for Spain

Hey, I thought I'd share my success story because I've seen a few British people on this board have trouble getting their spouse into Spain because they insisted that their marriage certificate be registered with the UK which British embassies don't do. My Filipina wife and I had the same problem ...

Re: Non EU Spouse - Residence Card required for visa?

We have thought about getting a Schengen visa for France instead but I'm not sure how to navigate the short term aspect of it when she doesn't intend to return to the Philippines. The form asks for intended return date - are we just supposed to lie or what?

Spain won't take application of non-EU family member

I'm a British citizen, my wife is Filipina. This morning we went to the Spanish consulate in Manila to apply for an entry visa as I'm moving to Barcelona next week and she'd like to join me ASAP. Unfortunately, they refused to even take her application as our marriage certificate isn't registered ...

Non EU Spouse - Residence Card required for visa?

Hello, I am a British citizen and I recently married a Filipina woman. I will be moving to Spain next week and our hope is that she will be able to join me as soon as her visa is taken care of. Unfortunately, I've seen that a requirement in the application for her entry visa is a copy of my (the EU ...

Change of Surname with Non-EU Spouse Visa

Hello, I'm a British citizen, and I married my Filipina wife two days ago. We plan to move to Spain in September (I already have a job lined up there) and so she will apply for an entry visa. She would like to change her surname to mine, but as she will be applying for a visa very soon we think it ...

Long wait for appointment for Family Reunification Visa

Hello, I am an EU citizen (British) and my Filipina wife-to-be and I are planning to move to Spain after we get married in August. Unfortunately the website for the Spanish embassy in Manila is saying that no appointments to apply for long term visas are available until October! This is a big ...

Re: Spanish embassy requesting proof that marriage is genuin

Her contract in Taiwan is now finished so she's going back to the Philippines anyway. I think the issue that the Spanish embassy has is that our marriage certificate can't be registered with the UK government and so they don't see us as having provided sufficient evidence of our relationship ...

Spanish embassy requesting proof that marriage is genuine.

I'm a British citizen, I'm getting married to my Filipina girlfriend in Hong Kong in August then we're gonna move to Barcelona in September. I emailed the Spanish embassy in Manila to ask them what I should do in regards to registering our marriage certificate since the UK doesn't offer that service ...

Re: Non-EU Spouse Visa without Registered Marriage Certifica

That's handy. So it would go: 1) Get married in Hong Kong 2) Get marriage certificate translated to Spanish 3) Get marriage certificate apostilled by the Hong Kong government 4) Apply for visa (Schengen?) for my wife at Spanish embassy in Philippines with our passports and apostilled marriage ...

Non-EU Spouse Visa without Registered Marriage Certificate

Hi, I am an EU citizen from the UK. I am getting married in the Philippines to a Filipina in August and after that we would like to move to Spain. I've taken a look at all of the laws that allow her to live with me in Spain but the only problem is there seems to be a requirement that our Filipino ...

Re: Visitor visa for new wife to join me in UK before leavin

I'm not planning on taking the Surrinder Singh route (at least not in the immediate future) - we want to permanently settle in a European country, not just reside for a few months so that we can move to the UK later. What do you mean by qualified jobseeker? I have a Bachelor's degree in Software ...

Re: Visitor visa for new wife to join me in UK before leavin

This link you provided: http://ec.europa.eu/justice/citizen/document/files/guide-free-mo-2013_en.pdf Says: EU citizens benefit from the right to reside without any conditions and formalities for a period of six months and even longer, if they continue to seek employment in the host EU country and ...

Re: Visitor visa for new wife to join me in UK before leavin

Ok! I read through the links you provided and I think I know how it needs to go down: 1. Get married in Philippines 2. Wife obtains Schengen visa in Philippines 3. Move to Schengen area country of choice 4. I'm allowed to reside in the country for six months as a jobseeker, and she's allowed to ...

Re: Visitor visa for new wife to join me in UK before leavin

I was under the impression that I would first need to get a job + register my residency in Europe and she would then need to apply for a Schengen visa in the Philippines, fly over and register her residency as a family member of an EU national. If that isn't the case and she can fly over with me ...

Re: Visitor visa for new wife to join me in UK before leavin

You are more likely to get a job in Europe by going to Europe and looking. In that way you will be exercising your treaty rights under EU free movement after your initial 3 months grace period. So it may pan out better if you go and settle in Europe first. Then come to visit UK a little later, i.e ...

Immediately after that we would like to go to the UK, with her on a visitor visa, so that she can meet my family and check out my country a ...
