Re: British by Descent

Dear Secret.simon Thank you for reminding me. When you talk about residence. Do you mean my residence or my child residence? If I live on my own in the UK while my family is abroad, would the home office or the university consider the whole family as resident (since they financially depend on me) or ...

Re: British by Descent

It is what it is.

What bothers me the most is that my kids dont get the right to study in the UK at the home rate.

Which means i ll have to consider relocating to the UK at least three years before the start of the university.

Re: British by Descent

Thank you for your reply. Also as the others said : arranging a birth in the UK would solve the problem... Clealry living outside the UK with a british passport has no advantages at all. My wife has no right to ILR or citizenship--she cannot even visit the UK without a visa. My kids get to pay the ...

British by Descent

Hi I am Uk Citizen (naturalised). My daughter was born in Morocco in 2020 (during the covid crisis) as a result she is british by descent. I was in a temporary mission in Morocco back then (still in Morocco on and off). Due to flight restrictions at that time, we could not organise our flight to the ...

Re: How British Citizen by Descent can pass citizenship?

I meant when visiting the UK.... It is quite strict in terms of proving residency.... God knows what the future will be like but clearly being a British Citizen and living abroad does not present any advantages as far as i can see. In USA, people just go and give birth there without any proof of ...

Not sure whether the NHS hospitals would welcome British expats? If not, does it mean that we need to go private?

How British Citizen by Descent can pass citizenship?

Dear All, My daughter was born outside the UK (I am British naturalized). My daughter now has the UK passport but she is British by descent (although her passport does not say so) and she can not pass the citizenship as far as I know. I am interested in knowing what are the necessary conditions that ...

Re: BC for Child Born Abroad

Thank you for the reply.

Then the countersignatory is compulsory which is a bit unfair if you dont know people with the right passports (EU, US, UK, etc) in the country where you reside.

i ll have to find countersignatory who live outside Morocco i have no choice

Re: BC for Child Born Abroad

Is Countersignatory needed when applying for first child passport outside the UK?

The rule states that the countersignatory must hold a British, Irish, EU, US or Commonwealth
passport which has not run out. Where am I supposed to find that person if i live outside Europe,UK, commonwealth and UK?

BC for Child Born Abroad

I am a naturalised BC (BC otherwise than by descent). My wife is due in December this year, she will give birth in Morocco (because her visa expired and as a result she can not fly to UK). My understanding is that the new born is eligible for the BC (but only the BC by descent?). Can you confirm ...
