Re: council or HO fault?

Exactly this, v. upsetting & stressful esp. after waiting 9 months for approval! Sometimes I wish I hadn't bothered
I'll do exactly what you suggest, wait a week then complain/escalate.
Also thank you very much for compiling the 6 months+ guide, very helpful :)

Re: council or HO fault?

I have just compiled a guide of steps to take if there are issues with applications - here it is: https://www.immigrationboards.com/british-citizenship/6-months-plus-waiting-for-citizenship-application-t343483.html Definitely raise a complaint and ask them what council was it sent to, and if it's ...

Re: council or HO fault?

OMG really? What happened then? Did the Welsh council return the cert, or did HO issue a duplicate? Get In Touch with HO to ask your questions/clarify first lest you become bogged down by what does not apply to your situation. I have, and with MP as well. Just curious, that's all. No need for ...

Re: council or HO fault?

Hi,
No, council hasn't got it. Someone from HO is chasing them for me. They've been quite helpful so far.
If it isn't found at the council, do you think HO could issue a duplicate?
Do you have an email address who to complain to, please?

council or HO fault?

Got my naturalisation approval on 8/1, contacted the council but they had not received my citizenship certificate yet. Fast forward to today: after enquiring with HO, they said my certificate was sent to Council on 5/1!!! So either council has lost it, or HO has lied. What to do now? Would HO issue ...

Re: Not able to book Citizenship ceremony

My council has also not received my certificate yet (Waltham Forest), though they state on their page "it may take at least 2 weeks for certificates to be received". Guess most delays are in the London area. Oh well, more waiting ...

Re: Complex issues email

So a month after the 'complex issues' email, I received the following - I sent an email 2 months ago enquiring about the delay and this is their answer: "Thank you for your correspondence requesting progress on your application for British citizenship. Please accept our apologies for the delay in ...

Criminal conviction

Hello,
I have just applied for citizenship, at the tender age of 65. My issue is I have a criminal conviction for drug possession (less than a gram of speed) in 1985. I have declared this on the app form. Do you think I still have a chance to be approved?
Thanks

Re: British Citizenship – Good Character Requirement FAQs

Help please! Getting started with the naturalisation app form, but have a teeny problem: was caught with less than a gram of speed (0.8) sometime in 1985, went to court and was fined. 2 questions: 1) How do i find out the exact date (sorry it was a long time ago & my memory's not so good) 2) Would a ...

Re: Marriage laws between EU/UK nationals: will they change?

and that UK nationals are not just getting paid to marry EU nationals to give them the right to stay Not sure where you got your info from, but being a EU citizen married to a UK citizen does not give the right to permanent residence! The EU spouse has to apply for PR in their own name, same as ...

Retired

Hello, just trying to clarify a point about retired people: does retirement after work count as "exercising treaty rights"? EU national, worked continuously in UK from 1987 to 2013, then was made redundant and got early retirement. If applying for PR, would it be ok to choose 2011-2015 as qualifying ...
