Thanks for your replies - great grandparents, yes but documentation is impossible unless there are immigration documents available from births, deaths and marriages or some other department...? The only relative I can be sure of is great grandfather who was from Poland but as I've already mentioned ...

I'm 36 in June and have no relatives. I'm confident I'm going to have a difficult time and it may well be that it's near impossible but I want to exhaust all avenues and this seems a good place to get some direction.
