Re: UKM application experience and timeline

It is immaterial that she is. The UK allow multiple citizenship's and they want to check if she was a Citizen at birth (to determine if she was by descent or not) and then even though she took out another citizenship she had not renounced her citizenship when you where born. The online form probably ...

Re: UKM application experience and timeline

That would be a great help! I'm born 1981 in SA. I was born in wedlock, as were both my parents and grandparents (not sure if that is relevant). My dad is South African with no ties to the UK. Re: UKM application experience and timeline

Jeez no do it yourself. Apparently its an online application now and 30K is crazy!! It will cost the price of a courier to the UK and 80 pounds for the ceremony fee. The online application is just a series of questions and then tells you what documents need to be sent to the UKVI.

Re: UKM application experience and timeline

You stated that you had a vault copy of your birth certificate and youbwhere British/Irish. What does it say as to your father? If your father is stated and is indeed Irish then you may have a case for Irish Citizenship.

Re: UKM application experience and timeline

As this sentence puts your claim firmly in being accepted as a British Citizen: "British children adopted by non-British nationals do not lose British nationality, even if they acquire a ...

Re: UKM application experience and timeline

I have at long last started the process of registering. Most of the time I waited to get all my documentation in place. The South African Home Affairs is notoriously slow and inefficient. Re: UKM denied

Correct but the court case also highlights the fact that mothers would not have bothered or may have been refused and there is no record of this at any High Commission / Embassy. This is the reason why the NEW UK-M form guidance notes for case workers expressly says "for those born to British ...

Re: UKM denied

Your mother is automatically British by descent as she was born abroad to British father, so yes, she is entitled to a British passport without the need to be registered. However, this does not extend to her children. It most certainly does!! The Supreme court ruled as such in March 2018. the ...

If you where born to a British Mother (by way of a British Father, your grandfather) who would have been able to pass it onto you (you would need to have been born between May 1962 and May ...
