We're both living in the US but he is an Australian citizen. He has a student visa and is not a permanent resident here. Would he have to go back to Australia to submit his application?

Can I apply for Tier 2 visa from anywhere other than UK?

I am a US citizen and my husband is an Australian citizen. If we both end up in the UK before we submit our applications, would it be possible to hop a train to say, Ireland and apply from there? Or do we each have to apply from our respective countries of residence?
