Re: Foreign Birth Registration

I think that Brawn may also have written about the sent to supervisor stage, but the gap for him may have been a bit longer. I can't recall exactly. Maybe he will clarify if he sees this. That’s right I had confirmation provided to me that mine had been sent for final approval at the beginning of N ...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

That's great news for you and for everyone else in the U.K. in a position to avail themselves of the Passport Express service. Thank you for clearing up the earlier confusion on this point. The answer now seems quite clear: Passport Express can be used by applicants in the U.K. who want to get ...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

I'm 100% sure as of the last few months, even if submitting at London counter or via passport express in Glasgow or Liverpool offices would be a min of 65 working days Are you 100% sure based on your own, or other people’s experience of being a first time applicant using passport express? I am s ...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

So my FBR application process has come to an end. Today I went to the post office to pick up the post I had missed yesterday while I was at work and it was indeed my FBR! Mine was not laminated like Sulla’s was, but they did take one of my passport photos and it is semi-laminated onto the top left c ...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration

That’s the hope, Sulla!

Tomorrow will be 3 weeks (but not 3 weeks in working days) since I received my confirmation email that I was entered into the register. Let’s see if the postman has a present for me!

Happy to see that there is some more good news appearing on this board 😁

Hi all. Question re FBR delivery. Does anyone know what postal service is used to deliver the package of original certificates and newly printed FBR back to you? Is it Royal Mail / an post or another courier like fedex?
Cheers!

Re: Foreign Birth Registration?

A glimmer of hope maybe? I spoke to DFA last week and they said that there is now a note on my application saying it should be signed off by end of March. That will be 8 months in total from sending application to (at least email) approval. Not counting my chickens yet though considering how long it ...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration?

If that’s true, it would seem the only people who might need to wait ten months would be those submitting incomplete documentation. Not quite Tom, I am pushing the 8 month barrier now, and my documentation was complete. No request for any supporting documents. I am in the “Final Approval” queue now ...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration?

How are you still waiting since July?!?! Goodness only knows but I can only assume it is a perfect storm of increased applications, Brexit (boo, hiss) and an office relocation / change of procedures at the DFA. Hopefully I’ll hear something before the 8 month mark, but I’m not getting my hopes up! G ...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration?

I’ve given up entirely now on receiving anything anytime soon. I called last week and the chap on the phone was very pleasant and informative but did mention that they have been inundated with applications. That said, he was surprised I was still waiting after having applied in July 2018. As I m ...

Re: Foreign Birth Registration?

So it seems things are in a massive slowdown at the moment. No surprise really with the current state of Brexit. I applied in July 2018, my application was forwarded for approval with the minister in November 2018, and after calling the DFA today they advised that they have a huge backlog and that I ...

Hi brusseleir Have a look here under the "Witnessing your application" section - https://www.dfa.ie/irish-embassy/germany/our-services/citizenship/born-outside-ireland/foreign-births-registration-guide/ Its the link to the FBR process from the German Embassy. Doesn't look like you need to go there ...

Brawn,

Any news? Updates?
Hey michael

Nothing yet. I’m at my 6 monthiversary today :-) my application was confirmed as received on the 2nd July.

My application was forwarded for approval on the 9th November so I imagine any day now I should hear something.

Good luck!

Re: Foreign Birth Registration?

Hey shoileygal

You don’t need to continue with the FBR process if you already have an Irish passport as you are already an Irish citizen. If I were you I’d contact the DFA and explain your situation to see if you can get your money back!

Congratulations spav! What a great festive gift :-)

Out of interest, what were your timelines again? And did you apply from the UK or elsewhere in the world?
