Well I've already lived here for over six yrs so now I feel like moving somewhere else :D On a bit more serious note, I do think that the Europe and UK in particular are on the rise while the US is due to adjustment because of reckless govt spending, too much red tape and other likewise complacency ...

Returning to US with Green Card and HSMP in passport

I have GC and want to go to UK on my HSMP but want to be able to return to the US within the first six months (if needed). I would appreciate if someone would share his/her experience. Were you admitted smoothly? Did they ask any questions or requested some evidence that your residence was not ...

Wishful thinking... do not expect it anytime soon. The US immigration system is family rather than merit-based and the current message to skilled would-be immigrants is we are so desired you guys can wait five-six years for your Green Cards to arrive.

2) The trick is, not many of them like to sponsor h1b themselves so what they do is they hire private contractors. In that case, the company providing such contractors can work around the h1b quota with a good lawyer. So look for big guys catering to universities and the govt...

I got my first h1b in feb 2001 and entered in Nov same year with no problems. The employer was the same who petitioned my visa. In your case the interval is longer but as long as the employer is same i don't think there's going to be any problem. Just curious, aside from personal cirumstances, why ...

Abandoning Green Card application

Can anyone describe what the legal consequences are (if any) of abandoning a GC application (EB2; I-140 approved; EAD & AP received; I-495 pending; currently on H1B/H4) and leaving the states for good? More specifically, my wife is considering to work a few months now that she finally got her EAD ...

How soon HSMP dependant can start working?

Hi there! My wife just got her HSMP dependant Entry Clearance and we wonder when she can actually start working in the U.K. We know that in theory her status allows her to work, but is there any bureaucracy she will have to undertake before applying for a job? For example, here in the U.S. one must ...

That sounds like a good news. However, the reason i asked the question is this post: http://www.immigrationboards.com/viewtopic.php?p=71551#71551 which states quite the opposite. Am I mising something? If there is a link to a UK gov't site that covers this matter, I would highly appreciate that too!

Thanks a lot! I also have a question concerning my wife and my son who will be my HSMP dependants - how long will it take for them to get naturalized? I gather that my wife will need to switch to a 'spouse visa' as soon as I get my ILR and after 2 yrs she can apply for her ILR and citizenship, so ...

HSMP-based citizenship - realistic time estimate?

Hi all, i would appreciate any feedback on how soon one can expect to gain the citizenship upon entering the UK on HSMP. The minimum seems to be 5 yrs before ILR followed by 1 yr before citizenship. Are there any hidden bumps down the road, such as US-style multiyear processing backlogs, lengthy ...
