In my honest opinion if you can then divorce her in India and more likely there as well either of the partner need to be a national/domiciled in India to begin the proceedings. Try to do it there.
Thanks CR001, what documents are shown as proof? It is easy to file a divorce but one of you should be resident in the UK and they ask for proof if they are unsure (I have had this exact experience).
