Re: Does the referee need to be living in the U.K.

Yes, that will be fine. Thank you! I realise that in my email I didn’t ask for a confirmation that the documents are successfully received. I don’t suppose the home office would typically email back with one. For my own peace of mind, whether or when would it be sensible to ask for a confirmation?

Re: Does the referee need to be living in the U.K.

The form has a lot of these issues. However please do not worry too much, this won't result in a rejection of your application - just supply these documents with a cober letter to explain the mistake. Thanks I will do. I’ve submitted my tax return for the last financial year and have a copy of the c ...

Re: Does the referee need to be living in the U.K.

This person has given you incorrect advice. You still need to complete the tax return for this year, so I would warmly recommend you do it and send it as that is a necessary document for your application. The advice of not overloading your application is valid for unnecessary documents but this one ...

Re: Does the referee need to be living in the U.K.

No, you need to complete the return for 2024-2025 and send that. I don't recall all the names of the documents - it is the SA302 for sure and the full tax return. Thank you for your clarification. I take your suggestions very seriously, as you and other experienced members on this forum have been ...

Re: Does the referee need to be living in the U.K.

You can download the tax return from the HMRC website (the SA302 is only a breakdown of the calculation, the full return includes all the information that you sent). Thanks I appreciate it. Would that be SA302 and SA100 (completed), only for the recent financial year (2023-2024)? Will I need to ...

Re: Does the referee need to be living in the U.K.

Contact the HO with a cover letter to explain what happened, most recent tax year SA302 and full tax return. That will be enough. Thanks! I reached out to the HO today to explain the situation and asked whether they would like me to provide the supplementary materials. I suppose I can write another ...

Re: Does the referee need to be living in the U.K.

Thank you for your response! Unfortunately, I’ve already attended my biometrics. Would it be necessary for me to reach out to them with an email to explain the situation? I had no gaps from my full-time employment during the qualifying period, so I imagine that by providing this information it would ...

Re: Does the referee need to be living in the U.K.

Apologies for bombarding my own thread as I am unable to edit my previous posts. I found out that you can choose either employed or self-employed on the online form. You can't choose both. So, when I chose Employed for example, it does not give me an option to choose again. I'm sure that the home ...

Re: Does the referee need to be living in the U.K.

sorry, only to add that I understand that employment is not a requirement for citizenship, but I am afraid that it may be interpreted as an attempt to conceal (bad character), even though my self-employment was declared to HMRC.

Re: Does the referee need to be living in the U.K.

Additionally, I can attach my HMRC Self-Employment Tax Year Overviews for the financial years 2020–2024, but my self-assessment return for 2024–2025 has not yet been filed, as it is not due until 31 January 2026. will I need to complete this return earlier to assist with my application?

Re: Does the referee need to be living in the U.K.

Thanks for the help. I’m constantly searching for errors in my application, and I think I’ve found one that’s concerning. I forgot to include my self-employment income in the last five years. It’s not my main source of income, and all my self-employment income has been filed for tax purposes, with al ...

Thanks!

Does the countdown starts when the application is submitted or when the biometrics is done for naturalisation?

Re: Does the referee need to be living in the U.K.

Thanks to all of those who provided me with some reassurance. I hope this is just me being paranoid again. A few years back, I had a long-standing conflict with a housemate caused a lot of harassment. Since it was staff accommodation, I sought support from the staff accommodation team and my manager ...

Re: Does the referee need to be living in the U.K.

Thanks, that’s reassuring albeit frustrating. It also occurred to me that on my application form under the section where they ask you to provide the reference to all previous applications, I mistakenly put down the UKVI payment reference instead of the unique application number. Now that everything h ...

Re: Does the referee need to be living in the U.K.

Ah I didn’t realise that I calculated my dates wrong, thanks for the advice!

I attended my biometrics with TLSContact today but haven’t received any confirmation from TLSContact after attending the appointment. Is this normal?

Re: Does the referee need to be living in the U.K.

Thanks for the advice! I received my ILR on 06/09/24 and I submitted my naturalisation application on 06/09/25 at 00:46. But the UKVI payment confirmation email stated the date as 05/09/25, even though the email was received on 06/09/25 at 00:46 UK time. However, the application form that I download ...

Re: Does the referee need to be living in the U.K.

Thanks for all the help so far. I have a few more questions and would appreciate some advice. 1. I forgot to mention one trip outside the U.K. after submitting the application, and have disclosed it in a cover letter. Would this be enough? This trip was disclosed in my previous ILR application. 2 ...

Re: Does the referee need to be living in the U.K.

Please excuse my confusion, but I thought P60s are needed to prove the continuous residence in the UK? Perhaps I was not clear. Even though the direct function of the p60 forms are to confirm the employment, but I’m hoping to use it to prove my continuous residency, as I was advised that documents s ...

Re: Does the referee need to be living in the U.K.

Thanks In appreciate the advice I transitioned to a new employment in 2021, and then again in 2023. On the form I was only asked to provide information for my current employer, so I’m looking to submit documents to prove my continuous employment since 2020. All full time employments have been with t ...

Re: Does the referee need to be living in the U.K.

Hi, Just doing some overthinking final checks. If I have the p60 to cover all five previous years and payslips for this year for my full time job, will I still need to submit self employment tax returns for some odd hours that I did over the last few years? I changed jobs in 2021 and 2023. On my p60 ...

Re: Does the referee need to be living in the U.K.

Bank statements are not accepted evidence. If your passport gets stamped submit all pages of that as evidence of your 5 year qualifying period. Thanks! Sadly not all my trips were stamped. I've provided my travel history in a cover letter for my ILR application. In the last 12 months I made two ...

Re: Does the referee need to be living in the U.K.

I've just managed to find all my p60s from the last five years, as well as all my payslips. if I don't have all the stamps on my passport, would these additional documents be sufficient? Thank you!
