Re: ILR to citizenship for child who is now major

Thanks CR. We have now got the dependant visa for both and will focus on ILR. Just wanted to make sure my son can apply for naturalisation without his mother. For the dependant visa the rule was that both mother and son must apply together ( I.e both parents are required to be in UK along with son ...

ILR to citizenship for child who is now major

Hi I am a British citizen and expect my wife and son to get ILR. My wife wants to continue on ILR but my son wants to apply for citizenship. My questions are: 1. My son will be a major (above18years) when he completes 12 months on ILR. Can he apply alone for naturalisation since his mother will be ...

Re: Dependant child turning major before decision

HMRC won't even look at the application. It is not a tax application, is it? If you meant the Home Office, the Home Office will look at the age as of the date on the application. And if you are just applying for the dependent child a month before their 18th birthday, you left it a bit late, didn't ...

They only look at his age on the date when the application is submitted so he should not have any issues.
Thats such a relief. Thanks a ton!
Now to just keep fingers crossed and wait for the decision

Dependant child turning major before decision

I have applied for a dependant child visa for my son in Dec 2022 (along with my wife) when he was 17 years old. In January 2023 he became a major and 18 years old. Will HMRC still consider only the application submission date when he was a minor and process his application as a dependant child or ...
