Re: Bank statement or tenancy aggrement for 10-years ILR

I submitted a second application choosed priority from scratch before I attended the biometrics of the first application. And I plan to attend biometrics for the priority one in the following days. Not sure if this could be a problem.

Re: Bank statement or tenancy aggrement for 10-years ILR

Thanks zimba.

Is it required to finish biometrics for the first application then submit the second new application from scratch?

Re: Bank statement or tenancy aggrement for 10-years ILR

Hi zimba, thank you for the link. I'm still confused: in the link, it says that ''Where an application is made and a further application is submitted from the customer that has the effect of varying it, the fee for the first application must be refunded.'' However, it also says: ''Withdrawn and the ...

Re: Bank statement or tenancy aggrement for 10-years ILR

Just a quick one, say if I have done biometrics for the first application and then submit a new one from scratch and do biometrics again. In this case, will I still get a refund of the ILR fee for the first application? Thank you so much.

Re: Bank statement or tenancy aggrement for 10-years ILR

Thank you, zimba.

Do I need to explain why I submit a new application changing to priority service while the old one is pending?

And whether the 10 years is calculated back to the first valid day of the first visa or the day the first time physically entered the UK?

Re: Proposed immigration changes 2025 discussion thread - UK set to limit permanent residency for some migrants

The Highly Skilled Migrant Programme (HSMP) qualifying period for Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR) was raised from 4 to 5 years in April 2006, taking effect on April 3, 2006. This change was part of broader immigration rule changes made by the UK government and meant that all new HSMP applicants ...

Re: Proposed immigration changes 2025 discussion thread - UK set to limit permanent residency for some migrants

Different types of legislation have different levels of approvals required. Some things, like Section 3(1) registration of children as British citizens, are at the SSHD's discretion. They can just be guidance documents or similar and don't even really count as legislation. Home Office documentation ...

Re: Bank statement or tenancy aggrement for 10-years ILR

Hi zimba, I'm confused by following: It seems I cannot make a new ILR for priority while the original one is pending, as the new one is treated as a variation application during section 3C leave. 3C guidance says: ""While the person’s leave is extended by section 3C they cannot make a new a ...

Re: Bank statement or tenancy aggrement for 10-years ILR

Thank you so much zimba and thank you for the link. I'm not sure if my understanding is correct: 1. I can still get refund from the old application as I haven't book/attend biometrics yet. 2. Applying from scratch and not withdrawing the current pending one does not harm my 3C. 3. But I need to ...

Re: Bank statement or tenancy aggrement for 10-years ILR

What is the point of this ?? You are wrong to think that there is such a risk. You do NOT become an overstayer if your visa expires if you have a pending in-time application. There is section 3C protection in place that extends your visa automatically and this has nothing to do with your biometrics ...

Re: Proposed immigration changes 2025 discussion thread - UK set to limit permanent residency for some migrants

No changes relating to to the proposals have been laid before parliament or have been enacted. As far as I know it's still at the white paper/consultation stage. It seems that there will unlikely to be a voting process. Check this briefing: https://commonslibrary.parliament.uk/research-briefings ...

Re: Proposed immigration changes 2025 discussion thread - UK set to limit permanent residency for some migrants

Just a thought. I'm wondering that the wording in the file 'A FAIRER PATHWAY TO SETTLEMENT' is historically rigorous and too strong. I doubt that applicants who submitted ILR before the implementation of the new policy and who still may have a pending application after the policy implementation ...

Change to priority service of ILR: withdraw or submit a new application

Hi, I submitted the ILR (10 years) before my visa expired, using the standard service. Now my visa has already expired. Biometrics is not yet booked. I really hope to get the decision faster by checking if priority is available now, but don't want to risk being an overstayer. I am thinking of two ...

Re: Late biometrics, does it mean a break in continuous residence?

Thank you so much for these, zimba. These are really helpful. I hope to ask, is it necessary to write a cover letter submitted alongside the application? The cover letter states that ''I know what I am applying for and I acknowledge the rules'', and also states that ''I would be benefited from the ...

Late biometrics, does it mean a break in continuous residence?

Hi, Thank you to all who are on this incredible forum. Here is a bit of history: I was on the Tier 4 visa in 2017. This visa expired on 01/10/2017. I extended my student visa within the UK on 28/09/2017, the day I submitted my application form and paid the fees. However, the University told me that ...

Re: Two montsh short for 10 years route

Hi Zimba, thank you so much for your explanation, and I do apologise. My immigration advisor said that applying more than 28 days earlier is very risky and the advisor provided me a lot of reasons of why it is risky, so I am a bit worried. It seems that I should apply by myself rather than work with ...

Re: Two montsh short for 10 years route

Thank you so much zimba. I have been following your replies, and they are more than helpful. But I am a little confused. I have to submit the application before my current visa expires, which is two months earlier than I would satisfy the 10-year requirement. It means that the earliest lawful ILR ...

Two montsh short for 10 years route

Hi! I would appreciate some advice and help here. Here is my immigration history: I came to the UK on 11/01/2016. Since then, I have stayed in the UK with no gaps in my visa, no short-term visa, and no breaks in my continuous residency until now. I will accumulate 10 years on January 2026. My ...

Since then, I have stayed in the UK with no gaps in my visa, no short-term visa, and no breaks in my continuous residency ...

Bank statement or tenancy aggrement for 10-years ILR

Hi all,

Happy New Year.

I was just wondering: I aim to apply for ILR based on 10-year residency. Do I need to submit bank statement/utility bill/tenancy agreement backwards to 10 years? Many thanks for your advice!
