Definitely a yes for the first question. You can use a driving license or other photo ID for the biometric appointment, not sure if an expired BRP is suitable. Other members may advise.

Hi everyone, I currently have Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR) and I’m preparing to apply for British citizenship.
