I don't think so.

But, if your spouse applies through NCS, all original documents will be returned after being verified by NCS on the day of application.
Brilliant, thank you. That sounds like the way to go.

Good news! Although, access to my passport: Would a notarized copy suffice?

Even if I don't move I have a lot of work travel next year to countries where I also need to get travel visas. I don't have a UK birth certificate - I obtained my citizenship by descent.

Residency requirement for spouses before naturalisation?

My husband will be eligible to make his application for naturalisation in May 2012, having been here on a spouse visa. We have checked the residency requirements, but I am unclear whether or how these also apply to me, the UK citizen spouse. There is a possibility that I may be asked to relocate to ...

If they hadn't already taken 8+ weeks I would be but it may be unavoidable as it's bumping up against other commitments. :(

So frustrating!

Must I be in the UK when my spouse arrives?

We have been waiting a long time for the spouse visa to come through now, and timing is getting a bit tight for both of our jobs to start in the UK. Must I be in the UK the day my spouse arrives? We will either arrive together or I wil arrive a few days prior. I will be outside the UK for work quite ...

Not asked about arrival date on form, and return of document

Husband has completed online VAF4 form for settlement and biometrics. The online form was different from the print version and guidance notes and did not ask when he plans to arrive in the UK. Is there somewhere I can add this - to the sponsor's letter perhaps? Ideally we want to go in mid-April. I ...

Re: Starting application - q's about money and time

Any guidance about finding accommodation when we arrive? This is the part I'm probably most concerned about now.

Starting application - q's about money and time

My husband has received a job offer so we're off to the UK! We'll be applying for the settlement visa from Australia. We're trying to gather the documents we need as fast as we can. We hope to be in the UK by Easter. Is this too optimistic? How are the current processing times? High Commission site ...

Re: Collecting documents - not yet applied - outside UK

Just noticed you're planning to come by Sep 2009. There will be changes introduced next year ... Thanks Whirly Another question (hopefully not a potential spanner...) My husband has started to apply for jobs and has had a couple of interviews. If he ends up getting a job sooner than anticipated he ...

Collecting documents - not yet applied - outside UK

We're outside the UK and have been married for 5 years. We are planning to move to the UK by September 09, if not sooner. I've read so much stuff about the visa process that I've started to confuse myself! I would ideally like to my husband to get ILR pending passing the KOL when we apply for the ...

Thank you Vinny. Sounds like the main thing we need to do is to look into arranging for my spouse to take the KOL test.

Starting research - dual UK/Aus has never lived UK?

We're just starting our research on the process of getting a visa for my spouse. I'm a UK/Australian dual citizen, and he's Australian. We are thinking of moving to the UK within the next two years. I have a few questions - I've never lived in the UK - I'm a citizen by descent. Does this count under ...
