oh i didn't realised I could do this for her as soon as we got ILR. I am going to India next month for few weeks and probably if I decide to live here then will apply... thanks for the update.

I am not sure about brit Citizenship yet as dont we need to to wait for 1 year before we can apply for naturalisation or citizenship. the trick to get around annoying message to call back later is..... listen the whole message once... then keep redialling again, but disconnecting as soon as you hear annoying message....try 5-6 times sometimes more and you will get through.... but i think no point calling till 14 weeks and after 14 ...

Keep finger cross.... just update them when you have new address and also just to be on safe side when you move to new house, take Royal mails post re-direct service. Doesnt cost much but all your mails will be delivered to your new address.

I applied via post even though I could I apply in person as I was a work permit holder... i got my passport back after 16 weeks, ILR was approved before 14 weeks but passport was only sent 2 week later due to IT problem... it wont cost anything by post as they accept its their mistake, but they don't have any published timeframe for this kind of problems so cannot gurantee.

as u said you cant change your destiny... so something was meant to go wrong and it did.... rem I told about me sending my wife's wrong passport initially and then sending her correct passport 3 weeks later.... They send all docs and passports, mine and my daughters are fine, but they put ILR stamp ...

one word of advise.....i wish someone had given me.... don't apply by post.... these days most applications are taking more than 14 weeks,,, if you can wait and are patient enough then do postal... but if you want to be stress free the apply in person.... I applied on 6th oct 2008, based on 5yr wp ...

I didn't write any letter to MP. Just spoke to his office about my case, and then emailed my complaint to home office, copied my MP and his case worker on the email. There is a section on UKBA website for how to make complaints under "contacts". Use that complaint form and send it to your area UKBA ...

guys good news..... got a reply for my complaint..... my ilr was granted on 10th Jan but due to IT problems their systems were not updated and they were not able to post my documents... so hopefully our passports will be back by end of this week.... now don't know if it is due to complaint letter or ...

yes there are loads of people who are waiting for months.... i wish i had done some searches on timeframe before applying or just had listen to my wife who was against sending passports in post as she doesn't trust HO....
I will probably call now next week.... will update if I get lucky earlier...

nope not yet.....did a google search on someone similar to us.. waiting for ilr applied by post for more than 5 months.... she says she got her passport about a week after her MP got a reply from HO.... so based on this I am hoping to get my docs back by end of this week or next....."umeed pe duniya ...

i agree...will never foreget this.... I got a call from my MP's office as well... they checked with home office about my case and was told decision is pending and should hear about it soon...so keeping finger crossed. keep us posted with your progress and how long does it take to get your docs back ...

i was disconnecting as soon as that message started and then quickly redial... in about 10th attempt i got in waiting que and about 20 mins wait was able to speak to some one....

i am glad my manager doesn't mind me using office phone....

finally got through and finally their systems are working... and a different reply.... "Application is under consideration and waiting for decision" sounds better than " under progress"....
he couldn't give me a time frame when I will get passport but said should be soon.
