Thanks for the reply Paperpusher :) The only thing is that they are stating a turnaround time of up to 2 months for visas at the moment and my application is within this timeframe so therefore the delay is not unexpected. In that case is an entry extension of any sort still possible? Do work permits ...

Hrm. Well the thing is the working permit was applied for and granted whilst I was in the UK. I have not been back to Australia for any of this so far.
