Apply for citizenship without ILR?

I have been legally in the UK for more than 9 years.
I got married to a British citizen 2 years ago, I am due to apply for ILR in January 2013.
Is it possible to apply for a British citizenship directly without going through ILR? if so, what is the procedure?

Thank You!

Thank you very much for taking the time to reply.

How would I know if my marraige certificate is recognised, or how would I check?

Thanks.
