For comparison only,

It is like US embassy would have canceled my u.s.a. B1 visit visa, when employer applied for L1 blanket.

UK visa rules are definitely rigid.

It means, I can't even visit my spouse in UK (after my T1 is stamped), if I choose to work with my existing organization.

Only option to enter UK will be a T1 only.
Don't want to waste my 51750 INR.

Switching Tier-2 dependent to Tier-1 General

I found it suitable to post here as many are dependent <-> independent switch My spouse will be going to London from Indian company. I will get my own Tier-1 General in the while. I would prefer to enter UK first as spouse's dependent, so that her employer get my initial 'dependent' paper work done....

i did small 100 rupee transaction on end date to 'mark my statement..'

Yes,
you can apply for period for which you are present in India.
i.e. July 2010 onwards.

I had photocopies with me but VFS told that they are ok with originals only.
Thus, I didn't submit any photocopies.

Photocopies should be a non-issue.

Count 90 days on your fingertips to be at safer side. 3 months calculation is little tricky with number of days per month.
