Re: Information for child of British citizen

Thank you, vinny . My fault that I was using jargon. British nationality law has a complex history. Before 1949, all people who owed allegiance to the Crown, across the Commonwealth, were all British subjects. The 1940s started seeing the development of citizenships in the modern sense. in 1949 ...

Re: Information for child of British citizen

Was your aunt's father naturalised (or more likely registered) as a CUKC before her birth? Would your family have his naturalisation/registration certificate? If he was registered/naturalised after the birth of his daughter/your aunt, there is a chance that your aunt may have been separately ...

Re: Information for child of British citizen

The answer may not be as clearcut as it seems. British nationality law has evolved considerably over the past century . To advise more correctly, we'd need answers to a few questions. When (month/year) and where was your aunt born? her father was in the UK working How/in what role was her father ...

Re: Information for child of British citizen

Was aunt's father (kids' grandfather) born in the UK? If yes, theoretically there's an option of an Ancestry visa (https://www.gov.uk/ancestry-visa), depending on kids' nationality and their eligibility. Thanks for the reply. No he wasn't he was also born overseas. He was here in the UK working for ...

Re: Shortly applying for SET M. Advice needed

She had her first permit given 8/5/2013. That ran out 8/11/15. Got the extension and this is runs out on 8/5/18 I think.

Should I apply in person or would it be ok doing it by post. I've done the past two in person so is there any differences in the two methods?

Thanks in advance.

Re: Shortly applying for SET M. Advice needed

Thanks for the reply She initially entered as a fiancée, and her resident permit expires on 8/5/18. The baby is due all being well 23/4/18. I was either going to apply 28 days earlier but it may be risky. If I was to apply by post what's the earliest I can apply? And if at the point of application ...

Thanks vinny for the reply. On looking at the link you provided for point three, you can apply for naturalization after three years in the UK. Will this apply for my wife? I was under the impression that she could only apply for naturalization after 5 years.

Thanks for the speedy reply guys. Much appreciated.

Greenie I have full faith in your knowledge, and was wondering if there is any need for me to get some sort of written approval from UKBA/ESOL to state the results as sufficient?
