Re: Renewing Stamp 4 EU FAM

Oh wow, okay, that's very involved. I thought I would just have to renew my current card. But I have to instead apply for one of these Permanent Residence Cards? I was looking at the Stamp 4 renewal process and thinking, 'That looks easy.' Guess not.

Renewing Stamp 4 EU FAM

Hi everyone, I'm here on a Stamp 4 EU FAM nearly five years, and starting to think about what I need to do to renew it. I looked at the INIS website, and I find instructions for renewing a regular Stamp 4, but not for renewing a Stamp 4 EU FAM. Anyone know where to find instructions for that? Or ...

Re: Right to Work in Ireland for non-EEA Spouse of UK Citize

I'm sorry but I don't know the answer. You should probably consult with an immigration law specialist. If you can't do that, though, I think the best thing to do is get the form (the EU1 form) you'll need to apply for a residence card here in Ireland based on your spouse's UK nationality (a Stamp 4 ...

Re: Right to Work in Ireland for non-EEA Spouse of UK Citize

Hi Samfraze, I'm glad my posts have been helpful to you. When I entered the country from the UK, through Dublin airport, the guard gave me only a 30-day visa and, when I asked why, and said I could get up to 90 days, she just said, 'This is the way we're doing it now.' And I was really, really ...

Re: Right to Work in Ireland for non-EEA Spouse of UK Citize

Hi Danny, You have the right idea in general, but the problem for me was that they wouldn't give me even a temporary Stamp 4 until I had a lease agreement, utility bills, PRTB registration, and payslips. We didn't want to sign a long-term lease before I got my Stamp 4, but couldn't get the temp ...

Re: Right to Work in Ireland for non-EEA Spouse of UK Citize

EUsmileWEallsmile: I don't want to complain -- I'm basically pleased with the way we've been treated! Perhaps my expectations were very low after dealing with immigration authorities in the US, India, and the UK. But I think the INIS has been responsive, fair, and decent. And, if they hadn't been, I ...

Re: Right to Work in Ireland for non-EEA Spouse of UK Citize

Hi Callum.a, I'm American and my wife is British. I was unable to get even my temporary Stamp 4 until we had the all the proper documentation, including payslips and even a PRTB registration. This meant my wife had to leave a job that refused to provide proper payslips, and we had to move house ...

Re: Right to Work in Ireland for non-EEA Spouse of UK Citize

We're doing okay. I've got my Stamp 4 and my wife and I are both working. Our review comes up February 8 so we're just trying to make sure the EU Treaty Rights Section at INIS has all the most up-to-date documents proving my wife's employment. We're not really sure what'll happen next. I guess ...

At Last: Stamp 4

We had to move to a new flat with a landlord willing to register us with PRTB, and get a telephone/TV package we didn't need to get a utility bill, but at last I've made some progress: I got a letter from INIS today saying I can go to GNIB and get a Stamp 4 that will allow me to live and work in ...

What They Asked For

Guru, we arrived on July 15 and the border guard put a stamp in my passport saying I had to register by August 15. I tried to register with GNIB but they said I had to file an EU1 form with INIS first. INIS got my EU1 form on August 8, according to this letter I got today. We knew it was incomplete ...

Working During Processing?

The border guard only gave me a month to register/filed an application with INIS, and the application requires two months of pay slips proving my EU-citizen-wife's employment in Ireland. So it's no surprise that, five weeks after filing my EU1 form, I got a letter back from INIS asking for more ...

Really?

Hi Guru, Thanks for your post, but I don't really understand what you're saying. Sorry for being dense. The woman at the border said I had to register within a month. Doesn't that mean that, within a month, either a) my EU spouse has to get a job (or in some other way exercise her treaty rights) and ...

Progress

Hi everyone. I just thought I'd keep you up to date. My wife (a UK citizen) and I (a US citizen) have arrived in Dublin. At the airport they gave me a one-month visa, and told me I have to register with the GNIB within that time period. I asked (very politely) why she was giving me one month instead ...

Self-Employment registration

Hi all, Just a couple more clarifications. If my wife loses her job, does that mean I will get kicked out of the country? Secondly, if the only work she can find within the first three months is occasional casual work, or freelance assignments for journalism, is there any way she can register as ...

Freelancing in Ireland

Thanks everyone. I've been asking around about this issue of whether I can work as a freelance writer for a non-Irish company while in Ireland on a tourist visa while waiting for my EU-citizen wife to find a job and exercise her treaty rights so I can get a residence permit and the right to work in ...

Freelance Work for US Company Legal?

Hi everyone, Thanks again for all your advice. May I ask you one more question? I understand that as an American I can enter Ireland without a visa. But then it sounds like there will be a period after my British wife and I enter the country that I'll just be waiting, unemployable, as she finds a ...

PPS Number?

Sorry, Brigid from Ireland, but why do I need to get a PPS number on the first day? That's for getting welfare benefits, isn't it? Do I have to get one of those for some reason to apply to INIS or to GNIB for a Stamp 4? We're coming to Ireland to work; if we don't find work, I suppose we'll leave ...

Right to Work in Ireland for non-EEA Spouse of UK Citizen?

Hi everyone, I'm an American and my wife is a UK citizen. We've been working in Asia for a couple of years, earning local salaries which are low by UK standards. So she can't sponsor me to go to the UK. So we're planning to move to Ireland -- either for long enough for her to meet the UK's financial ...
