Hello, I am due to surrender my child's Indian Passport and yet to apply for her British Passport. We had travelled to India during the grace period, as soon as we received the Naturalisation Certificate. We are back in the UK now. The grace period is due to finish by the end of September. In the ...

Thanks for the reply.
BTW, should I mention as "British" in landing card on arrival to the UK? (since it would be evident on their records).

Hi, 16 days less is not a problem. Infact, the UKBA has a particular clause, wherein it is acceptable for a time period of 3 months gap from the date of visa issue and the date of arrival in the UK. (In our case there was a gap of about 2 months and this information was given to us by our solicitor ...

Hi pgaitonde, Your qualifying period starts from Aug 9 2008 till Aug 9 2013 (5 years). Therefore, you can apply anytime starting from Aug 9 2013 until June 2015 (your Tier1 Visa expiry date). However you are eligible to apply 28 days before Aug 9th 2013, i.e;13th/15th July 2013. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply. Surrendering Indian passport is not a problem. My concern is with the British national child travelling on Indian passport will attract penalties. Citizenship application process timeline

Hi,
Many thanks for your reply. It is much appreciated.

I am exploring the possibility to request UKBA for postponing the processing of the family application itself. Would this be possible? In that case, we would have returned from the trip using Indian passport.
