Timeline for GTV Peer Review Stage 1 (Endorsement) from the Royal Society?

Post by Mario420 » Thu Aug 08, 2024 1:50 pm

Hi everyone,

I applied for GTV Stage 1 via peer review on July 26, and received an email from the Home Office on July 29 stating that my application has been forwarded to The Royal Society. Given my time-sensitive situation, I am seeking clarification on the expected timeline for a response.

The Royal Society mentions that the Stage 1 process can take up to eight weeks.

Could anyone share their experience or insights on the typical timeline for peer review endorsement from the Royal Society? When might I reasonably expect to receive the outcome for Stage 1?

Your insights would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Your previous post suggested you were preparing to apply under route 1 (academic and research appointments)?

Route 4 (peer review) normally takes more time than the others. The Royal Society mentions:
Under Route 4 (Peer review), Stage 1 of the application process can take up to eight weeks from the time the Home Office receives your application. Within these eight weeks, the relevant endorsing body will usually return an endorsement decision within five weeks
This is the second week after the endorsement application was submitted, it's expected to receive a response within the timeframe provided, just need to exercise patience.

Also remember that every application is different. In some cases the endorsing body could ask for further information/clarifications within this timeframe before taking a decision.

Yes, my initial plan was to apply under route 1 (academic and research appointments), however the University HR said they do not feel comfortable providing the required support letter due to my previous ATAS rejection.

I am aware of the Royal Society's timeline, which states:
Under Route 4 (Peer review), Stage 1 of the application process can take up to eight weeks from the time the Home Office receives your application. Within these eight weeks, the relevant endorsing body will usually return an endorsement decision within five weeks.
Unfortunately, my situation is quite time-sensitive because I risk losing my job offer if the endorsement decision is delayed. I am hoping to hear more specific insights or experience regarding the actual time the Royal Society typically takes for this process.

Thank you again for your input.

I am sure that the University is aware that this process takes time, they should be able to wait until you get a visa if they really want you to join.

Ultimately, route 4 is not tied to a specific appointment.

Once approved, the GTV allows you to work for any employer - in accordance with your specialist field.

I am the original poster, and I am replying to provide a reference point for future applicants. The Royal Society sent me an endorsement email on August 19, exactly three weeks after the Home Office forwarded my application to them.
