Leaving the UK during the 60 days

Post by pizzaboy » Fri Jan 12, 2024 2:14 pm

Hello - I was made redundant at the end of December and my employer has informed the Home Office. I've found a new job and they are expecting for my application to go in the the Home Office at the end of January.

I had a trip to Norway booked for next week to visit a friend. Am I allowed to travel outside the UK and return before my new job submits my application?

Do you still have a valid visa in the UK?

My skilled worker visa expires in December 2024. But at the moment I am not sponsored since I was made redundant.

Until you get a letter about visa curtailment from UKVI, you're fine (and even then you'll have 60 days).

Curtailment Letter

Post by pizzaboy » Fri Feb 09, 2024 11:17 am

How long does it normally take for curtailment letters to be sent? I was made redundant last year and my final day of employment was Dec 20. I have yet to receive my curtailment letter. Is that normal?

This question has been responded several times, on a daily basis.

Nobody can predict when a curtailment letter will be sent. Recent reports say that the Home Office rarely issued them in the last few years.

Some of us waited for several weeks or months after redundancy and never received anything. This is not an issue, you can stay in the UK until you find a new sponsor as long as your current leave is still valid.

It is likely to take many months. In the meantime you can remain in the U.K. and search for another sponsored role. If that is what you wish to do.
If you have less than 60 days left on your visa at the point the cancellation is being processed, the Home Office will not normally issue a cancellation notice.

And if plan is to get another job do not travel out of the UK as though no curtailment letter received but your reason for being in the UK ended so readmittance at PoE could be an issue.
