Old passport number on CoS/New passport number on tier 2 vis

I interviewed for a job in January. At the time, they photocopied my passport. I received the job, and recently got my Certificate of Sponsorship. However, in February I renewed my passport. The original will expire in June 2015, but I figured it would be better to renew since the validity is less than six months. My employer applied for my CofS using my old passport number which has been canceled when the new passport was issued. Should I fill out my Tier 2 visa application using my new passport number and including the old passport number under the question about any old passports. Does anybody know if this will cause problems? I intend to send in both passports when I submit the application to the consulate.

Your application should be on the basis of your current (new) passport but you should give details, and submit, both old and new passports.

Before you apply you may also ask your sponsor to add a sponsor note about the change of passports but this is not essential and the sponsor would probably insist on seeing your original new passport before adding the sponsor note and if you are not in the UK at present this would not be possible.

did u need to contact your sponsor or u managed to get the visa by sending the 2 passports to the visa office?
