application deferred ! what does it mean ?

Post by memphis » Wed Sep 01, 2010 4:58 pm

Hi all,

I got an sms from the vfs that your application is ready for collection.

I went to collect it but instead of my passport and documents I received a letter in a sealed envelope stating:

"Dear XYZ,

You recently applied for a visa for the uk however your application has been deferred for further information and consideration.
Please be assured that we are not requesting any further information from you at this time.
When our inquiries are completed vfs will contact you and arrange for you to collect your decision.
it is our aim to complete our investigations and checks within shortest time possible in order to minimize inconvenience to our customers.

entry clearance officer
abc"

Please advise what does it mean ? :? :? :?

Highly likely that BHC has decided to verify the documentary evidence(s) submitted .. perhaps at the last moment.

Unusual though, for BHC to inform you about it! Perhaps the decision to investigate was taken after the application was decided and VFS informed (who in turn requested you to collect passport).

IMHO ....

Thank you very much sushdmehta,

Just wanted to ask if it was related to grant allocation of the interim limit ?

Could be (and I hope it is that only) ... but reference to "further information and consideration" and "investigations and checks" seem to suggest otherwise.

Unfortunately, no one can tell you for sure. Even I am speculating on basis of text of the letter.

Thank you very much sushdmehta, looking forward to receiving the passport back with visa.

Doesn't look like a limit related issue to me. The BHC would have indicated in its letter if that was the case. There is no update on UKBA web page either.
