NARIC comparability certificate

Post by nsm2010 » Sun Jul 29, 2007 10:06 am

Dears,
This is my first post. I am planning to file HSMP application and for the purpose I am sending my degree to get NARIC assesment. I have couple of questions regarding the issue;
Since I am sending my documents from Saudi Arabia, should I pay Postage for the return envelope?
What should be the size of self addressed returen envelope?
Should I pay only their Fee or Fee + VAT?
Should I sent my experience certificate alongwith?

I would appreciate quick reponse in this regards

Dear nsm2010
Initially U will not get degree comparability certificate from NARIC. What U will get is comparability letter. But comparability letter is enough for HSMP. If U want comparability certificate (after U get forur letter of comparability) U will need to pay more. It will be written on your letter of comparability how to do that and how much it is going to cost you.
And now the answer to your questions:

1. You do not have to send prepaid self address envelope, they send the comparability letter by airmail. But if you want to send pre-paid envelope, it could be any size just enough to enclose 2 pages of A4 papers.
2. Fee + VAT
3. No, only copy of your degree certificate, trascript and translation (if applicable)

Good Luck

NARIC comparability letter

Post by nsm2010 » Mon Jul 30, 2007 9:57 am

Dear Panteima,

Thanx for your prompt reply and detailed explaination. But still I am wondering why should I have to pay FEE + VAT when I am living outside UK and EU?

You dont have to pay the vat... they clearly say that vat is applicable only for UK and EU. Since you are in S.A. you need to just pay the fee.. plus if you make an online application will save you more money and case will be assessed faster too.

Dear nsm2010~
My experience sofar is applicants from the UK. I did not realise that he is applying from outside UK. But also I do not know whether if we apply from outside UK we do not need to pay for VAT. Please let us know the source of your information (NARIC Website, etc)

What I have seen sofar is that
How much does it cost?
A standard letter of comparability costs £40.00 plus VAT (£47.00)
Take advantage of a discounted rate of £34.00 plus VAT (£39.95) if you apply on-line"

I also just check it, in the payment option there is no option that will excluce the VAT. .

I dont know the source but I too would endorse the suggestion made by ~j~ regarding VAT.

If you buy somethin in UK and take it back to your country of residence, you can even claim refund of VAT. I have done it a number of times for the gift items I bought for my relatives back home. I presume VAT is applicable if a service is availed/good is used within UK only. Going by the same notion VAt need not be paid for NARIC services.

There is no harm in getting an email confirmation from NARIC itself, nsm2010. Even otherwise, if you make online payment, there would be some indication to this effect.

regards,

Dear Panteima and nsm2010~

Payment

The fee is chargeable for the comparability service and will state VAT where this is included. VAT is payable for UK and European Economic Area residents.

The fee is an administration and assessment fee.

The service is non-refundable in the event of an error on the part on the applicant. Please ensure that the correct documentation is supplied.

UK NARIC will not process an application using a credit or debit card if this is rejected by the UK NARIC banking facility.

The fee is for undertaking an assessment of comparability and is non-refundable and does not depend on the outcome of a comparability assessment.

UK NARIC will not refund fees in the event that in the process of assessment UK NARIC deems information received to be offensive or inappropriate or in its absolute discretion it believes to be inaccurate, untrue or a forgery.

For Payments via the Internet, provided no documentation has been forwarded to UK NARIC refunds may be granted if requested within 7 days of payment. Please note an administration charge will apply in all cases. If documents have been forwarded to UK NARIC for assessment no refund will be granted.
