Update OCI with new passport needed?

Update OCI with new passport needed?

Hi
I am a British passport holder and was granted an OCI in Nov 2021 when i was 39 years of age.

Since then i have renewed my british passport and will be travelling to india later on this year (my age will be 42).

Do i need to update details on OCI with new passport details or am i ok to travel with my old and new passport with OCI booklet?

As i have asked our local agent and he has advised would need to update, would charge £20. However on OCI website it states i will need to do once i turn 50 years of age.

Your response would be much appreciated.

For your first two to three trips, you can take the old passport, the OCI booklet and new passport. They do some sort of check and will link them at the airport. After the third trip, they won't even ask for the old passport, just the new one and OCI booklet.

No harm in transferring now if you want, but it's not mandatory (provided nothing else has changed).
