Transit visa Spain

Post by miramar28 » Sat Jan 09, 2016 10:17 pm

Hi all,

I am a UK citizen currently based in Havana.
My husband, son and I were planning to fly to the uk via Madrid.
He holds a 2 year family vistor visa for the UK

Does he need a transit visa for Madrid?

There is so much confusing info out there!

According to List 11 in this link, as a national of Cuba yes he does. (ES in the table is España - Spain)

According to CR001's VFS Global link he doesn't either. How long is the transit period? Will he have to clear through Spanish border control and customs or simply transit 'air side'?

In which case I think it would be wiser (safer) to travel with a transit visa. From personal experience I can say that Spanish border officers aren't the most 'flexible' :|
