Brexit!!

Post by thespaniard » Sun Feb 21, 2016 6:59 pm

Dear friends,

After 20+ years living and working in the UK (the last 13 working for a London Council) I find myself very worried about the UK leaving the EU. I am originally from Spain and never crossed my mind to get a residency card although I am registered as a UK resident with the Spanish Consulate. I was told I didn't need residency status as a citizen of a EU country. I am a Council Tax payer, also I am in the electoral register and been living in my current home for nearly 11 years. Lived in my previous address for 5.5 years.
I would like to know, what would be the implications for me if the UK leaves the EU? Will I became an illegal immigrant? Will I have to apply for British citizenship? Will the NHS still provide care for my long term health condition? (My health condition was diagnosed three years after I came to this country).
All the information you can give me would be very much appreciated.
Kind regards

You should apply for a document certifying permanent residence PR if you don't already have one.

You will be fine if you have PR, which is 'settled' status.
