Schengen delays

Post by sm12 » Fri Aug 11, 2017 4:08 pm

I applied for a Schengen visa a while ago and have received no news at all.
Everytime I traveled previously, I got it within a week so am getting worried.
Is it worthwhile contacting VFS?
I'm wondering if the delay has anything to do with the holiday season.

Only embassy can tell about status. You should contact with embassy.

Thank you for your reply.
I did try contacting the concerned Consulate but nobody answered the phone. Will try again next week.

Do consulates typically contact applicants if some documents are inadequate or missing?
The VFS officer took out a number of documents and gave them back to me, and now I'm worried that these documents were perhaps needed.

Delays are expected during peak holiday periods.

Please don't send me PMs asking for immigration advice on posts that are on the open forum. If I haven't responded there, it's because I don't have the answer. I'm a moderator, not a legal professional.

Thank you for your reply, Casa.
It's over two weeks now, so getting a little concerned. VFS also have no advice. Just telling me to wait.

Vfs has nothing to do with processing time. Only embassy can advise you further. Send an e mail embassy.

Hi

Yeah, I did call the embassy (and emailed too but no reply). On the phone, after passing me on to different people, I was simply told that the application is under process.

Then no option left. Just wait and see.

Thank you for your reply.
Does anyone have any idea about how withdrawal works?
If I don't hear anything within the next ten days, I might have to withdraw my application as I need my passport for a work-related matter at the end of the month.

I called the consulate again today and have been told that my application has been processed and will be sent to the VFS centre next week. They didn't tell me whether it has been approved or not on the phone.
