Tier-1 Dependent visa - Marital status for Application

Post by adityaisukapalli » Wed May 16, 2012 9:16 am

Hello,

We are getting married in August. My Fiance needs to fill in the online Application for Tier-1 Dependent outside UK - to secure the appointment immediately after wedding.

But, in the Online application, what should she fill for marital status if she fill in the form 1 month before wedding ? Single / Married ?

Marital status on the date of application (for entry clearance application, date of application is the date you pay the associated fees).
What is the date of your application if you are applying from outside the UK?

Therefore, your spouse-to-be should submit the form after he/she has become your spouse (legally). Yes, this will delay submission, appointment and processing but, IMHO, this is how it should be.

In that case, if she fill in the form online today as "Married"... and she will visit VFS center after wedding and pay the fees.. on that day she is in status of "Married" anyway ??

Let's try differently!

Will she be married to you on the date she pays the entry clearance fees? If yes, fine ..... if not, she may be accused of deception (claiming to be married when she is not).

So, in effect .. and as explained earlier ... it depends on her marital status on the date of application.

Yes, she will be married to me on the day she pay the fees and give Biometric details.

My question is, can she fill in the online form now as "Married" ? She still needs to declare and sign on printed copy to submit when she pay fee.

If she is to sign and date the form on the day she will pay the fees, then should be fine.
