180 Days Policy

Hello All,

I require expert advice for my friend who is holding tier 1 general. My friend is due to apply for ILR and he is six month away from it. Now his company wants him to go to Europe for six month contract and as per rule he can not stay away from the UK for more than 180 days in total within five years. I did some research for him and found out that some rules have been changed related to absent from UK on 13th December, 2012 and as per new rule you can stay absent from UK for maximum 180 days each year. It is quite confusing as if this is not the case and he accepts the company offer he will lose his chance to get an ILR as he has not much balance left from his of 180 days in 5 years.

Please guys your expert and urgent advice will be really appreciated.
