How long to wait to receive a reference number?

How long to wait to receive a reference number?

Dear All,

It has been 5 working days since my HSMP initial application arrived to HO. I have not received my reference yet.
What is the expected response time to receive acknowledge by e-mail nowadays?

P.S. Since I am exempt for fee, I cannot tell whether it has been processed by charging team or not.
