Past Earnings - Is it minimum points or nothing?

Post by mils » Tue Aug 03, 2004 1:27 pm

Could the experts let me know, if for Past Earnings, it is the minimum points (which is 25) or nothing. OR do the HO consider lesser earnings and accordingly give lesser points?
I have calculated my points as 60 excluding any points in past earnings. Because my past earnings don't come upto the 7500GBP for India. But if some points were given to me based on past earnings(I don't really need the whole 25 points, instead would just need 5 points to reach the golden number of 65), I could reach 65.

Do let me know.
Thanks.

Thanks for the replies..

Could I ask another question.

Will they consider ownership of a company (i.e. company worth) as income? For instance, if I am a partner in a company, do they consider company worth>

Well its 25 or zero.

For 2nd query, consideration of ownership of a company is something you get income from dividend funds which is not acceptable by them as earning. I trust if you are a partner in a company, why not have your own business statement that this much you have earned in company's profit and you are running the business instead of employement.

it depends on the type of company (partnership, propritory/ limited). If you can clarify it, you can get a better reply. If it is solely your company then you have to show the profits earned, capital invested, property and the tax statements etc. If they are satisfied, you get the HSMP visa and can open your company there. Please consider HSMP guys if you open your company

No they do not consider company worth else ease of getting a HSMP would be instantaneous for most with a family business. However they can consider income from self employment in your designated occupation. For example I am a Chemical Engineer and I run a consulting company on Heat Exchanger Design. Any income I derive from this will be considered in the income matrix pursuant to its declaration for tax purposes. I would also submit registration documents and the relevant contracts with my HSMP application to show that this business/work is 'bona fide'. The same principle applies for those with both employed and self employed income from the same/ similar designated occupation.

Hoep that helps.

Examples of Significant achievements (15 points) - this category is less onerous than “Outstanding Achievement”, but is still highly restrictive and is limited to those with national-level achievements, or those who are known internationally but have not quite reached the very top of their profession.

--Someone who has built a significant business. This could be an entrepreneur who has started a business, and now employs a considerable number of staff, and has many offices and/or shops.
--A top IT professional who has published works in his/her field and is considered an authority in this area.
--An economist who has held high level positions in both the private and public sector. This could be someone whose advice is frequently requested by Governments and International Organisations.
--An academic who is considered to be near the top of his/her field. Someone who may have headed a research team and published articles internationally may come under this category.
--A violinist who is considered as being in the top of his/her field in her home Country. This would be someone who would be welcome in any Orchestra around the World because of his/her ability as a violinist.
A successful film producer who has produced a number of very popular films. However, he/she has never received a top film award.

Just reading here and thought what I know might be useful.
I have a friend who applied sometime early this year.. say Jan..
She got 5 points for siginifant achievement although demanded 15.. so who knows it might be the same with the income..

Cheers

BugMaster,

You have just started a new conversation, How is this possible? This might be due to some mistakes by them and you know how under pressure they are. So Dont expect this will happen to all.
