Lodging FLR(HSMP)Application 8 months before expiration

Has anyone tried lodging his/her application earlier than the recommended 5weeks? For our first extension (1+3+1), we submitted it more or less 10 weeks ahead of the expiration and we didn't encounter any problem. It's just that, this time, the whole family will be out for a long holiday from Oct-January (86days) and it is quite uncomfortable to come back with a 1month valid visa.

We got intouch with HO and we are getting mix signals/answers, some say it "might" be too early. But, I was able to get an email reply from WP and it says "There is nothing to stop you from applying earlier than the recommended 5 weeks."

Just wondering if someone has done such already and did they encounter any issue?
