SOURCE OF FUNDS FOR MAINTAINENCE UNIQUE CASE! HELP PLEASE!

Post by COOLCAT » Fri Jul 04, 2008 1:46 pm

Hi everyone,
I came to UK in September last year on HSMP.I am planning to apply HSMP dependent visa for my wife and my kid who are in india.

I have a problem. I met with an accident last year in UK and broke my hand. So I was paid £4500 as compensation by the insurance company. I had the same money in my savings account since then.

My question is can I used these funds for maintainence, for my dependents in India. I have a letter from insurance company to support the same.

Can some one please suggest on this topic.??

Regards
Coolcat

If I am not wrong, maintenance funds should be in the dependants name and easily accessible. And since your family is in India, it should in their bank account for atleast 3 months.

Advise from senior members can however give you correct advise. This is just my personal opinion.

Both are acceptable - money in the sponsor's account or money in the dependent's account. If former, it is always a good idea to submit a sponsorship letter with the dependent application stating that the money is available for dependent's use.

Other requirements must be met as prescribed.

If this money was credited to you in the last 3 months, then wait for three months to get over. This way it will not show as a credit transaction in your statement and you won't need to provide proof of source (that it is indeed an insurance claim / benefit).

Hi Guys,
Thanks for the valuable inputs (Sush & Jackie). Say for instance if I had to produce my last 12 or 15 months bank statements, do I still need to justify the credit of £4500 into my account even if it does not reflect as a credit in the recent 3 months for maintainence section.

The reason why I am asking this is, the phase with which the rules are being changed, VFS in India might require 15 months bank statements of the main applicant in UK in the near future (I mean by the time I apply for my Dependants).

Please comment on the issue thanks

Hi Coolcat,

Is it not possible for you to show maintenance fund in different bank account and salary in the other bank account you mentioned. In this way after 3 months it ends your worry as in the last 3 months it will not be shown.

Cheers!
