Status of WP in case Tier 1 is processed

Post by birdy1980 » Thu Oct 23, 2008 12:53 pm

Hi All
I came into the country through a WP through my current employer.
I recently got my TIER 1 Processed. I have some questions

1.Does this mean my old Work permit automatically becomes invalid?
2. Is there anything I need to do from my end for this?
3. What would happen if my employer refuses to cancel my WP? Am I still bound to him in any way ?

I know this may be answered before, if so please let me know the link to the post

Cheers
Birdy

You can tell your employer that you are on a different visa now, your WP has been cancelled. It doesn't affect them, they can still employ you and your contract should be unaffected.

Thanks for raising the queries and getting the responses from the senior members. The answers have been helpful to me also.

Is the residence status of my dependents affected if I didn't include them in my application for switching from WP to Tier1?

Their EC are based on my canceled EC and Work permit. I intend to apply for the Tier 1s for my dependents early next year.

Are your dependant with you presently in the UK? If yes, I believe you should get their status changed at the same time as yours.

If they are in their home country, then you will need to get their Tier-1 approved before they plan to arrive in the UK.

One more thing, did youe send your Original Owrk Permit along with your Tier-1 application?

My dependents are with me in the UK and I did not send my original work permit along with my application for Tier-1 application. Are their EC affected?
