girlfriend applying for Tier 1, include a letter from me?

Post by MrMann » Tue Nov 11, 2008 5:13 pm

Hi,

I've been browsing this forum for several months now and found it very useful. However I have a question which I haven't found an answer to yet.

My girlfriend (a Russian citizen) is applying for Tier 1 (General) on Friday. (I am a UK citizen)

As well as all of the required documents, we were wondering if it was a good / bad idea to include a letter from me saying that if her application was successful she will be staying with me, and that I will support her while she is looking for work. Plus evidence of my address and earnings.

Is this likely to make any difference to the application either way? And would members advise to include it or not?

Many thanks
Andy

It will add nothing to the application and in fact may raise questions rather than help.

Tier1 general apps are expected to succeed in their own right, have the means to fund their initial period of stay and stand on their own two feet. If she can evidence all that is required do not muddy the waters.

thanks for your reply - I wondered if that might be the case

just to double-check - there is no need for proof of accommodation with the Tier 1 General application is there?

That is correct - that is why they want lots of money in the bank so you can survive until you get settled as it were.

Wish you well and hope the application goes to plan, even if I am a weegee.
