Questions regarding Tier 1 Dependant application from Aus

Hi,

I have a HSMP and have been working in the UK for 1.5 years, my wife came here on a WHV and now has gone back to AUS apply for as a dependant under my current HSMP.

During the application process i spoke to the British High Comission (BHC) and they informed me that the funds required are £1600 as only she is applying and im not (which is true even though she is applying as a dependant on my visa). They also informed me that the £1600 can be in her account, my account or in a joint account

I am worried about the bank account part, there was enough money over three months in one account which is only under her name but not enough in my account. So we used her account to show maintenance funds.

Can someone confirm if only £1600 is required as only she is applying and if it the money can be from her account and doesnt have to be from mine? i know this is what i was told by the staff at BHC but i dont completely trust them as they are call centre staff and dont make actual decisions on visa approvals. Also we applied on 17 December, what is the current wait times for Tier 1 in Aus?
