Earnings dates

Post by nachiketpa » Thu Mar 19, 2009 1:18 pm

Hi,
I have a letter from my employer stated that I earned £XXX working from 18 April 2008 til 28 Feb 2009. But I got my first payslip and salary only 30 May, it included payment for 9 days of April and for the whole May. I'm going to claim points for earnings from 01 May to 28 Feb is it correct or it is better to say from 18 April to 28 Feb.
Thank you for your help.

18 April to 28 Feb should be fine as long as they stick to the rule of 12 consequtive months out of 15months..

And when you furnish your payslips as proof just mention in the coverletter about why you are using only 10months+ 14days??

If you were working before 18th April you can also use the payslips of that previous company from 1st March - 17April and 18 April to 28 Feb which makes 12months complete.. this u might want to consider if you want to gaini more/sufficient earnings points..

hope i did not confuse you

Cheers

Nachiketpa,

My wife was in a similar situation and when I enquired HO they mentioned that they are not interested in the start date of the employment but the actual payment periods. In my wife's case she started her employment last june but received her first salary in july. HO suggested that I could use the earnings period from july as there are no payments in june. They also insisted that the payment periods should be calendar months. Hence I think you could use 01 May to 28 Feb as your earnings period. She has applied on this basis and awaiting a result. I am not sure if the way she has done is the right one but it is a suggested approach though.
