Post Tier 1 Visa issue - Entry Refusal

Post by Asif786 » Fri Oct 16, 2009 10:13 am

Hi,

I have a situation where i am planning to enter UK 9 months later after visa was issued in Feb 09. This morning i had a call from my friend who said her entry to UK was refused as she had not entered for 11 months the visa was issued and the officer in immigration had told her that this is not encouraged and does not serve the purpose of the visa which is to stay for 3 yrs and then claim an extension so as to qualify for PR.

Can somebody confirm this. I am sort of worried on this new development.

Inputs would really help.

Tks

She might have told that she was going there for visit, not for working, which of course will annoy any immigration officer. The purpose of the visa is to "to live and work " in UK, not just visit. At the same time, if someone cannot find work in UK and have a stable job outside, he/she can go anytime before the expiry of visa, after finding work. In such cases, it is better to expect an interview at the port of entry. But you can enter as long as your visa is valid: http://www.ukvisas.gov.uk/en/faqs/5167621/2969423

My Initial thought is that this might be a case of mis-communication ..Dont see any logical reason to deny entry ..
