Previous earnings - Gross or Net

Happy New Year to all....

I have a query relating to previous earnings. E.g Following is my salary structure -

Basic Salary + Allowances - 60000
Deductions - 5000

Net Salary which gets credited to my bank account - 60000 - 5000 = 55000.

I wanted to know what for considering the previous earnings, what salary will be considered in this case - 60000 or 50000?

Always, Gross. Only the tax man is interested in your net yearly earnings.
