Switching From Visitor To Tier 1 Dependant

Post by Edo » Mon May 10, 2010 2:23 pm

Hi all, I’m a Tier 1 (General) Migrant and going to get married soon to someone who already has a UK Visitor’s visa valid until June 2011. I was wondering what’s the best option for my partner to join me after marriage i.e. is it best for them to come to UK using their Visit visa and then we apply for a dependant status from inside the UK, or should I sponsor them in the home country?

I know it’s possible to switch to a dependant status from within the UK in certain cases but we are just not sure in case of a Visitor. Has anybody been in this situation before, or does anyone know if UKBA or the immigration authorities at the airport will object to my partner coming to UK using their visit visa if we take that route? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Regards
